The essentials to happiness are having something to do,someone to love, and something to hope for.

He LOVES mac and cheese
He definitely has my tastes thus far! mac and cheese and pizza are his favorite foods. I remember Hailey saying that Jack loved mac and cheese so I thought it was a good next step. He is obsessed. He'll eat an entire pack of the single serving stuff!!! You can see his top little teeth in this picture as well. I'm pretty sure he's going to have a huge gap between them. His superior labial frenulum (that thin stringy thing that connects your lip to you gums/jaw) connects very low and may cause his teeth to gap. He may have to get it snipped!
If I'm not feeding him fast enough he'll do this little trick. He'll make little fists and then shake and tighten his entire body. It's very humorous. I was very pleased that he did it for the camera. He is quite the photogenic little creature. He must get that from his auntie Metta.
Zeb's new family!
They are new to him anyway! Zeb had quite the adventure and met a plethora of new and
friendly faces over the holiday break! unfortunately we didn't get all of them on camera, but I'll post some of the ones that we did capture. he really loves people and enjoyed himself immensely! he did ralph all over his first cousin, once removed, tanner! but he loved his great aunt donna!
He and jack-jack hit it off with the
cleaning supplies.
The picture with all of the Popsicles is of Zeb and his cousins, Marissa, Krystal, and Aaron. In the car he's hanging out with his other cousins
Ethan and Hanna

He loved his aunties Metta (who was diagnosed with chicken pocks/shingles the very day this pic was taken!), Daysa, and Laney! And here's the rugrat with his auntie laney (again) and uncle taylor. Because the rugrat really has no preference of one person over another we couldn't ever figure out if Z mistook Laney for me! Perhaps in June he'll love me more and we'll see how it goes :)

illness and politics.
Update (for those of you who care):During the day I feel fabulous. I think for sure the little bugs have vacated my body, but every morning when I wake up and I feel like they have relaunched an attack. Now I have that terrible cough that won't allow you to sit still longer than five minutes. If I try to stifle anything my eyes start watering and my body heaves out the coughs. Then the cough scratches up my throat all over again. My voice is at about 25%. I am definitely on the up :) and neither Zeb nor Kent are showing any signs of illness! I really want to go running so I hope I am totally better by tomorrow! My attempts to run yesterday were greeted by a very angry throat.
The Michigan primaries are on the fifteenth! just a few short days away. I am so tempted to drive up over the border and see if I can find the candidates! I know that Mitt will be in Hudsonville, but it's nearly four hours away from here. I can't find the exact locations of the other candidates. All of the politics get me so excited! and then so anxious at the same time. On the republican ticket I really am pulling for Romney, but it looks like it's going to be a crazy race. I am excited to see what happens once Guilliani starts campaigning in the bigger states. I just don't like Huckabee...at all. I'm afraid he's too much like Bush. I strongly believe we need a big change and Huckabee is not the force of that change. I'm trying to separate myself from the bias I have towards Romney, but after reading issues and watching debates, I really do like him the most. I still don't like Hilary and I'm not sure I can change that! Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can about Obama and Edwards.
Sometimes I just wish we could just have the big convention (scheduled in August) tomorrow and then I could focus my energies on choosing one of the two candidates! one of my favorite sites to look at is cnn.com. They have up to date info on everything, and they have it so that you can look at all candidates' positions on the same time about the same issue. Basically it's a candidate comparison (although not entirely comprehensive).
I'll post some Zeb pictures later today (I know that's the real reason you all look at my blog!).

no bacteria.
About my illness, the doctor said it sounded and looked like strep but then the test came back negative. grrrrrrrr. No medicine for me. I just have to wait it out with lots of liquids. Last night I dreamt all about going to the dentist and how he was hurting my throat so bad. Finally this morning at five I woke up in terrible pain. I need to just set my alarm to 3 or 4 so that I wake up and take more advil before the pain gets that bad. My fever and body aches are gone, now it's just a terrible wretched awful sore throat and headache. The ibuprofen helps tremendously. Plus, this morning I went to walking group and it was nice to get out since I was indoors all day yesterday! Staying all cooped up tends to make my little viruses stick around longer and and just vacation in me. go away evil viruses. go away.
Oh, and about the music we've been putting on the blog, it's from "Enchanted" the semi-new Disney movie that we went and saw with my little sisters and cousins over the break. We all loved it and LOVED the music! It's super cheesy, but really funny.

he is such a dang good baby
My little rugrat has to be the best baby on earth! being home has made me realize just how happy and easy he is! I've come down with a wicked little bug and he is so good to just play with his toys and hang out! I think that it's strep and I hope he doesn't get it! I feel like I've been run over by a semi. My body aches, my head is spinning, my neck is tight, I have a raging fever, and my throat feels like it's been scraped by a cheese grater. blech. I really really really hope that Z doesn't pick up my disease. I'm trying to not kiss him or touch his binkies or bottles, but with Kent back in school it is nearly impossible. I have a Dr's appointment today at two so let's hope that it is bacterial and that I can get some antibiotics!!!

home at last! and many many apologies for my disappearance for so many days :)
After a long day of traveling we finally made it home :) and I am back to the blogging world! I didn't look at the blog even ONCE while I was in Utah for the holidays. Maybe I'm not as obsessed as I thought! Really it's because I had no free time on my hands and I was with lots of the people that I am usually blogging for.
I really didn't take that many pictures while we were home for the Holidays
! I hope that lots of other people did and will post them. The flight home was MUCH better then the flight to Utah. I thought flying during Zeb's sleeptime would be nicer, but I was very wrong. He did much better on the morning/daytime flights. Not to mention he didn't have a fever, all of those dang teeth came in while we were in Utah or on the plane to Utah (he got THREE new teeth!), and there was an extra seat so they let us bring his carseat on board! If we were rich, that would be an indulgence. I would have bought the rugrat his own seat on all of the flights! It was so much easier!
The holidays were absolutely WONDERFUL, but I can't tell you how great it is to be home. I think that Zeb was more excited than both Kent and me! You should have seen his face when we walked in the door! He giggled with joy when we put him in his crib. He is a boy of routine and he is so happy to be back on his.

real food, real boy
Today we went to a doctor's appointment and the doctor said he's perfect :) and quite lively.
He's almost 18 pounds and is 26.5 inches! he's so close to crawling. I think that it will happen in Utah over the break.
He had to get six vaccines today as well. Five shots and the oral of the rotavirus. He did so amazingly well. He did scream, but he stopped as soon as I picked him up! Then he gave the nurse a big smile goodbye and promptly fell asleep.
Here's a shot of how Zeb spent his day when we were snowed in! I nearly went stir crazy, but I think Zeb enjoyed his time immensely.

no church no church
Ward Christmas Party!
I'm assuming that next year with Santa may not be as pleasant! Most of the kids between 1 and 2 years had screaming fits or shakes of terror when placed on Santa's lap. Good thing we got some good Santa/Zeb shots this year :)
There was lots of good food at the party and a great Nativity with the Primary kids! Three of
my four kids were there and acted as wisemen/shepherds. I'll admit that I have come to enjoy my time in primary far more then I ever thought possible. I actually look forward to going and teaching the lessons. I love the kids. I lucked out hugely with a great class. I'm positive that I have the best kids in the entire ward! We are switching around at the year though, we'll have to see how I fare. I have learned that whenever I am happy or comfortable with my calling, something gets changed up! I really thought I would just have to suck up the fact that I was in primary, but now I actually love it.
