I have to agree with a friend here in Toledo who argued that it is fall and not Christmas that is "The most wonderful time of the year". Today I welcomed fall with outstretched arms. Is there anything better than the smells? and the feel of it? or the colors? or the crunch of leaves? or that crisp cool air? I am so so so happy.
One of our favorite fall/Halloween traditions is perusing the decoration aisles at Walmart/Target/Meijer. Last year Zeb would shudder and tear up almost instantly at the site of anything Halloween. This year he has embraced and loved almost all of it. This evening on our family home evening activity we discovered the part he has yet to appreciate.
I know, I know. We are terrible, rotten, very bad, no-good parents. Sometimes it's just too hard to resist. Zeb's faces were priceless. And please note the fuzzy baby rat in hand. He asked for it in the Halloween aisle and immediately began to shower it with hugs and kisses?! No prompting whatsoever from us. He also demanded to hold it the rest of our shopping trip.
Oh, and to all of you parents out there- don't act like you've never done anything like this to your kids. (Or allowed an uncle or aunt to do it). I think it's just a natural part of parenting.

Oh, look at him! That's so sad! Stop you meanies! I wanna come save him and give him a good cuddle- meanies...
hysterical. we try to scare hank daily and he just won't be scared.
My nose hurts because I'm trying not to giggle too loud while here at work. That is totally something that my dad did during Halloween when I was a kid.
By the way, I love the new picture you have at the top of your page. Gorgeous.
I seriously about crapped my pants with laughter at this post. I definitely advocate such behavior to other parents. Out of control frivolity.
Yes, I've done it, too. It's totally natural!
I am calling CPS.
That is so mean!! But I guess I am mean too because I am sitting here laughing at how cute Zeb is when he gets scared.
Awesome! We have totally done that, and now my children love Halloween so much that we have to visit every Halloween store that comes, and go down the Halloween isle every time we go in the store! Skyler even points and asks to go there, even if he does get scared by some of the things too! Love it!
Guess Grandma Taylor did a great job ensuring all of us were as into it as she was!
MEAN!!
I am just remembering the time when Kent SACRED the crap out of Marissa. She got so scared she sat down, cryed.
I have said "BOO" to a kid but NEVER with a mask on.
Horribly funny but poor little Z.
You guys are pure evil. He is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!
Thanks for the first really laugh of the day. My kids and i love to look at all the halloween stuff too, but we hang at Target. Did I tell you that craig is going to be a basketball coach with and afro and I'm going ot be a knocked-up cheerleader for halloween this year? I think it'll be great for the ward party!
Funny..! I think you really enjoyed Halloween shopping. It's great.
Guilty! In fact just last night at the store I put on a mask and freiked Mara out. It is just to amusing an opportunity to pass up!
