the screamer
This kid HATES HATES HATES doctors and nurses. Through the weight, height, blood oxygen level, lung, ear, and eye checks he SCREAMED like a naughty naughty little boy. He even screamed while I tried to go over his history with them. Luckily we were visiting the pediatric pulmonologist and they were relatively understanding about it all. Unfortunately our concerns were confirmed and the bugaboo does have asthma. I thought it wasn't diagnosed until children were older but after viewing the x-rays, family history, and medical history the doctor was sure he has it. The doctor is starting him on Pulmicort and Singulair this week. He'll take them both daily for at least three months and most likely continue indefinitely. Hopefully this means that every little cold or upper respiratory infection doesn't turn into a breathing emergency and we won't have any more breathing treatments or prednisone.

Oh, bless his heart! Auri had a hard time with doctors too. But, after all of the needles she had stuck in her (and Zeb I am sure has had to endure) who can blame them??? She has gotten better with them, though, and I am sure Zeb will someday too!
I hope the medicine helps him! He is such a sweetie!!
I'm so sorry to hear it! I'm extremely glad he has experienced and capable parents to get him through whatever. I'm feeling worse for you guys right now. Hang in there - I bet he'll out-grow it. Thank goodness for all the great medicines and medical advancements too!
Poor little Zeb! But at least with a diagnosis and treatment he can avoid so many horrible doctor appointments in the future.
he may be a screamer who isnt when they are that age at a dr. appointment poor kid has asthma he is still one of the cutest kids i know
What are the chances he'll out-grow it? Do the meds cause drowsiness? At least Zebby is good at taking medicine. I HATE holding my kids down to force stuff down their throats. :) ... every day at dinner :) j/k.
Good luck. Hopefully this diagnosis and treatment will help this winter be more manageable with Zeb's colds.
Will he use an enhaler later on in life?
he probably won't outgrow it but can control it better with age- and that means he'll have an inhaler instead of the daily meds- and hopefully will only have to use it sparingly
Hey, Skyler got diagnosed with Asthma this summer too! It sounds like Zeb might have it worse than Skyler. Skyler already has the inhaler and we give it to him whenever he needs it. We have to keep an asthma attack journal and monitor what triggers he might have. Right now his major trigger is getting upset. We left him in nursery for 5 minutes, he screamed and cried which brought on the asthma attack and than he pucked all over. I am sure the nursery leaders hated us. Oh well, now we know, don't make him mad. Those nebulizer treatments are hard to get down when they aren't willing though. Good luck to you! Our prayers go out!
