Since the first day that we arrived in Toledo the mystery of "Big Boy" has intrigued me. Scattered throughout the city there are all of these old looking restaurants that have giant plastic statues of a big boy in front of them. Tonight we decided to put our questions to rest and go in! plus it is customer appreciation week and mini hot fudge cakes were only 99 cents!
The cakes were good (just a little bit stale) and the employees were very nice (although missing teeth) but I think that one visit completely solved the "big boy" mystery and we will never have to return.

All the JB's restaurants were once Big Boys - and yea, one trip should do you.
we have been so curious too! we have one right by our house...maybe we will just let that one go.
hahahaha! I think I remember going to a Big Boys or JBs as a family when I was young - and the only thing I remember is that our waitress was missing many teeth. That is hilarious.
Good to know, we have been wanting to go and get the 99 cent cakes too. Maybe we won't now!!
When growing up my brother always had this big boy piggy bank doll so when we moved here I was so shocked to see a big boy! I sent a pic to my bro and he in return sent me a pic of him and his old doll. It was hilarious! Before moving here I did not even know it was a restaurant. We did try their shakes and they are pretty good !Cute picture!
I'm glad you went on our behalf. Will you try that hot dog place on Glendale and Cass next?
Poor naive kids, back in the day of the LTM that's what we called the MTC when the earth's crust was still cooling, Provo had a big plastic BIG BOY within a couple blocks of the BYU campus....duh.

yeah, I have to agree with Chris, when I was a kid and we lived in Kaysville, UT our neighbor accross the street had a big boy statue in their backyard. He also had a parrot that would shout lewd and insulting things at people walking past their garage.
I went to Long John Silvers on Tuesday, and I feel the same way about that restaurant - I tried it once, and I will never go back! (But I guess I'm glad I had the experience.)
Ever since we moved here, Shaun has been pleading to go to Bob Evan's, (don't ask me why) and so on his b-day he chose that as his restaurant of choice. It was about what I expected, and now Shaun wants to go there for every meal and get fishsticks. Gross. The sister missionaries were there as well. Weird.
We had an equally unsavory experience at Big Boy. Sadly the girls still yell ...."it's a big boy!" every time we see it. Ours were the Halloween free kids meal coupons. Let me tell you it wasn't worth it. My Big Boy burger was a patty and bun. No lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, pickle......nothing. Mimi's chicken strips were aged to the point that even she the child who eats anything wouldn't touch them. Sorry we didn't forewarn you but hey now you know the rest of the story.
